About Puddle Rocket

A rocket does not need a launchpad. A puddle will do. We make discovery shows for small children that start from something small and ordinary, a footprint, a puddle, a very long word, and go somewhere big.

What we make

Short, calm, character-led discovery videos for ages 4–7, and the pages on this site that go with them. Our first explorer is Kip Fieldstone and his first obsession is dinosaurs. Kip is built to carry other worlds, big machines, oceans, space, when they are ready.

What we believe

  • The subject is the star. Kip is the relationship; the dinosaur earns the click.
  • Calm attention. A child who has just watched should be thinking, not bouncing. Learning moments are still; movement happens between them.
  • Say it right. One pronunciation per name, checked against museums, said slowly and then together.
  • Careful with facts. Sources on everything, hedges kept, artistic choices labeled.
  • Nothing between the child and the discovery. No branding before the subject appears, no nagging, no tricks to keep anyone watching.
  • Safe by design. No data collection, no accounts, no ads. Read the grown-ups page.

Where things stand

Early, and on purpose. Kip’s design, voice and Field Book are finished, and three dinosaur guides have passed every check: Velociraptor, Tyrannosaurus rex and Triceratops. The first videos are on our Watch page. We add things when they are ready, never before.

The studio
