Who we are

puddlerocket.com is published by Alternate Thread Studios, McLean, Virginia (“we”, “the studio”). These terms are an agreement with the adults who use the site. Children use it with you, under your supervision. By using the site you accept these terms; if you do not, please do not use it.

What you are welcome to do

  • Read, watch and share links. Link to any page or video, on any site or in any message.
  • Use it in class and in groups. Show pages and our YouTube videos in a classroom, library, home school or similar group, free of charge.
  • Print Field Book pages. Print as many copies as you need for your own children, your class or your group, free of charge.
  • Quote briefly. Quote a sentence or two with a link back, for example in a lesson plan or a review.

What needs our permission first

  • Re-uploading, posting or sending the printable files themselves elsewhere (share the link instead), or collecting them into a book or pack.
  • Selling, or charging for, anything that contains our pages, pictures or videos, including printed copies.
  • Re-uploading, editing, remixing or clipping our videos or artwork, or using them to train AI models.
  • Making merchandise or new stories with Kip Fieldstone or our other characters.
  • Using the Puddle Rocket name or logos in a way that suggests we made, sponsor or endorse something we did not.

We are glad to hear from schools, museums, libraries and partners. Ask through the contact page.

What belongs to us

The Puddle Rocket name and rocket logo, Kip Fieldstone and the other characters, the Field Book and Discovery Spark designs, and the artwork, videos and writing on this site belong to Alternate Thread Studios or are used with permission. Scientific facts belong to no one; we cite the museums and journals they come from, and those sources belong to their publishers.

Accuracy

We check facts carefully against museum and scientific sources and say where scientists are unsure, but paleontology changes and we can make mistakes. The site is for curiosity and learning, not professional advice of any kind. If you find an error, please tell us; corrections are some of the best messages we get.

The site as it is

We work to keep the site accurate, safe and available, but we provide it free and “as is”, without guarantees that it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that come from using the site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law does not allow us to limit.

Links to other sites

We link to museums, journals, reference sites and YouTube as sources and as the place our videos play. We do not control those sites, and their own terms and privacy policies apply there.

Privacy

How we handle information is on the privacy page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site grows, for example if we ever offer paid products, which would come with their own terms. The current version is always at this address, with its date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page.

Contact

Questions about these terms, or requests for permission, go through the contact page or to hello@puddlerocket.com.
